Dr. Fandos was born in Argentina where he finished his studies as Medical Doctor at the University of Rosario. He pursued a dream to study medicine in the United States and, ultimately went on to complete his anesthesia and critical care residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
Early in his training he developed great interest in a career in the field of pain management. He went on to fellowship training in Interventional Pain Management at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt of Columbia University where he learned the most advanced techniques in the field. He went on for additional subspecialty training at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan where he acquired expertise in the care of patients with complex pain management conditions. He has trained under the guidance of world authorities in the field.
After obtaining his board certification in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, Dr. Fandos joined Dr. Craig Shalmi and began New York Pain Consultants on Long Island. He is currently on staff in the Division of Pain Management at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center where he participates in the teaching of medical residents wishing to learn about this new field. He is serving as the Director of the Division of Pain Management at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, a member of the North Shore-LIJ system since November of 2006. Dr. Fandos is currently involved in several research projects that focus on patients with chronic pain due to different conditions focusing on new techniques that can potentially provide these patients with prolonged sustained relief of pain and improved quality of life.
